Accusations by Joao Cancelo suggest that Pep Guardiola is dishonest regarding the reasons for his departure from Manchester City, and furthermore asserts that the team displays a lack of gratitude.
Last season, after losing the favor of Guardiola, the 29-year-old unexpectedly switched teams to Bayern Munich on loan.
Guardiola clarified that the Portuguese defender, Cancelo, declined to accept being benched from City's starting lineup when he spoke about his departure.
"Each individual possesses a distinct personality. While he revels in the art of play, his commitment to training is unparalleled. However, over the past several games, he has been granted minimal opportunities for participation," remarked Guardiola."
"We came to a mutual decision for all parties involved, that allowing him to move and play regularly is essential for his happiness. His goal of playing every game can hopefully be achieved in Munich."
When questioned about Guardiola's assertion that he was dissatisfied with being removed, Cancelo rebuked the claim as untrue, stating in A Bola: "Falsehoods were spoken!"
According to me, neither Nathan Ake nor Rico Lewis would testify that I have ever been a bad teammate. It's not in my nature to hold myself superior or inferior to them; however, the manager may see things differently.
Cancelo, currently on loan at Barcelona, is similarly dissatisfied with the manner in which City resolved the matter.
Cancelo expressed his belief that Man City's statement of ingratitude was unwarranted considering he had been a significant player during his time with the team.
