Chelsea is happy to announce the signing of Mamadou Sarr from French club RC Strasbourg. The young defender has signed a contract that will keep him at Chelsea until 2033.
Mamadou played an important role for Strasbourg in the 2024/25 season, helping them qualify for European competition next year. The 19-year-old appeared in 28 matches and helped the team secure a spot in the UEFA Conference League play-offs.

He began his football journey at the academy of RC Lens before moving to Lyon. After rising through Lyon’s youth system, Mamadou made his first senior appearance at the end of the 2022/23 season. He went on to play two more senior games before going on loan to Belgian side RWD Molenbeek for five months.
Last August, he joined Strasbourg and quickly became a key player in their defense. Mamadou started 27 games in Ligue 1, helping the team finish in 7th place.

Mamadou has also played for France at several youth levels, most recently with the Under-20 national team.
Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou!
