Last night's Euro 2024 final garnered a TV audience of 24.2 million, with an average viewership of 22.3 million from kick-off to the end across ITV and the BBC.

About 18 million viewers reached the maximum audience for BBC, while ITV's broadcast of an interview with tPM Keir Starmer only had a peak of six million viewers.

During the game, 65% of viewers watched via BBC while ITV's TV and streaming audience share increased by 12 percentage points compared to their Euro final viewing numbers in 2021. This marks the highest audience share for a major men’s football tournament final on record for ITV.

A combined audience of 6 million people viewed the match on both ITV1 and ITVX, with streaming available for all devices. The highest number of viewers recorded was at its peak, which reached 6.4 million. Throughout the coverage from 6:30pm onwards across all devices, an average of 3.9m individuals watched it through ITV's broadcast channel platform in total.

During Euro 2024, ITV aired two of the top three matches with the highest ratings. This includes their coverage of England's semi-final against the Netherlands, which achieved a peak audience number of 21.6 million across all devices - setting a record for single-channel viewership on ITV.

Despite the figures being stable, there was a significant decline in viewership compared to the 31 million who tuned in for England's defeat against Italy during the Euro 2020 championship final. Additionally, ratings saw only marginal growth from Wednesday night's ITV broadcast of England’s semi-final match versus Netherlands that garnered an audience of 21.6 million people.
