A young defender playing the center position, recognized as a potential superstar, commits to a contract spanning five years.

Lille's 18-year-old French defender, Leny Yoro has been signed by Manchester United as per the announcement made.

Yoro, recognized globally as among the finest emerging central defenders in football worldwide, has inked a deal that runs until June 2029 and may be lengthened for an additional year. According to rumors, Man Utd secured his signature ahead of Real Madrid's interest.

Following the departures of Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala this summer, Man Utd has strengthened their defence with their second signing of the season - a new addition in the form of a Dutch forward named Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

"An ideal location to attain my highest potential".

Yoro informed Man Utd's official website that right from the beginning of his talks with the club, they established a precise strategy for my growth in Manchester within this thrilling venture and demonstrated sincere concern towards me as well as my family.

"I am aware of the history that young players have had at Manchester United and believe it to be an ideal destination for me to realize my potential and accomplish my goals along with my new teammates. I'm excited about starting."

According to Dan Ashworth, the newly appointed sporting director of Man Utd, Leny is an exceptionally promising young defender on a global scale. He has all the necessary qualities required for him to mature into a world-class centre-back.

Leny will have the ideal opportunity to succeed and achieve everyone's goals across the club under [manager] Erik ten Hag and our outstanding staff. Our club boasts an impressive history of nurturing young players, be it from their roots or elsewhere, providing them with ample guidance, patience, and time for growth and prosperity.

Leny Yoro, who is he?

Born on the 13th of November in 2005, Yoro came into this world in Saint-Maurice - a suburban area located within Paris.

At the age of 16, having enrolled in Lille's youth system back in 2017, he made his inaugural appearance for their first-team squad.

After featuring in 60 matches for Lille's senior squad, Yoro earned a spot on the Ligue 1 team of the season during the 2023/24 campaign owing to his contributions towards their fourth-place finish.

Last season, he ranked among the top five players in France's premier league for completed passes and his towering height of 6ft 2in enabled him to triumph in over two-thirds of his aerial battles.

France has been represented by him in multiple youth levels and he played for their Under-21 team on four occasions.

After Yoro's registration is authenticated, he will participate in Man Utd's pre-season training and their forthcoming second friendly match versus Rangers on Saturday.

On Friday, August 16th, United will kick off the new Premier League season by facing Fulham at home.
